September Virtual tasting Poll

Post by Frederick Blais »

So I think we are looking to taste a Vintage Port for this coming month. I like the idea of Tom to taste one from the 1991 vintage.

Now I want to know if you all want to taste the same or taste the one you want.

Gives your suggestion too for the chosen one!

Fred,
i choose any VP of my choosing. The only reason is I can only locate the Dow's 1991 VP near me. as I have no '91s in my cellar. I still can't have wine shipped to me as it is near 100 degrees here in L.A. the past couple days.

I'd vote any 91 VP you of your choice, since it'll probably be hard for everyone to find the same producer.
Thanks, John C

I voted for the personal choice as specific VP's are more difficult to find in single bottles than say a a Tawny or LBV.

However, we could all post a list of which 91's we each have to see if we can limit the scope of the VT to 1, 2 or 3 shippers to allow some comparisons of the same wines. For starters I have Graham's and Gould Campbell 91's. What does everyone else have in the cellar?

OK - Cockburn is my first choice, but I could also tackle Warre or Graham.

If people are finding it difficult to locate 1991's could we open this up to include any VP from the 91/92 split declaration?

Two good years followed each other, but they were not that much alike...

I'd Focus on 91 so far no one spoke about problem getting one bottle. I'll probably go for Warre's.

I'm (temporarily) back in the loop and will try to take part in the next virtual tasting.

I've got Gould Campbell, Grahams, Niepoort, Vesuvio and Warre.

However, as an alternative to trying to concentrate on a handful of producers, we could go to the other extreme and try to cover as many producers as we can - get an idea of how the vintage as a whole is developing.

But I'll go with the flow.

Alex seems to have come up with a suggestion that is better than either of mine so I would like to change my opinion (a rare occurence!) and vote for a 91 horizontal VT 8)

I also have a recent TN for Gould Campbell so could post 2 TN's to widen the coverage of shippers.

In which case I will take the Vesuvio.....although I would be happy to switch to the Niepoort (or Gould Campbell) if someone else chooses to taste the Vesuvio.

This is shaping up to be a very good VT this month. I can't wait to read the reviews.

I have a half bottle of Pocas '91, and I might be able to write a line or two.
