Any Ideas for Drinking Young Port Over a Week?

I love young, grippy, juicy port. To finish an entire bottle over a week, I've been decanting the 'first pour', nitro-ing the rest, and then placing the bottle in the fridge. The next night, I'll take the bottle out of the fridge, decant some, and do the same steps as the first day, and continue this method over the week. Any other ideas or pointers?

I'll decant the first half into a half bottle, then do as you. The half bottle seems to slow oxidation even more so.

I find the nitro to kill some of the aromatic and kind of pointless on a young port since it's going to be finished long before the port fall apart.

I do the same as Eric with half bottles. I love Sherry half bottles just for this reason. The T cork is better than most port half bottles. If the port is filled right to the cork, there's no air and no need for nitro...

I'm not a big fan of Nitro either. I've tried it and it always seems to leave a weird taste to the wine/Port. I know they aren't supposed to, but I always find they do.

I just toss it into the fridge with a cork in it. And I also do the 1/2 bottle thing when I know I won't finish the whole bottle that day.

I often drink a bottle of tawny over sever weeks (small glass every 2 or 3 days) and have found best way for me to keep freshness is to use glass marbles to raise the level of the port back into the neck after each pour, use t-stopper and then back into fridge/wine cabinet/cellar.

Wow, that is a new one for me. Pretty clever.

It is clever. Aesop thought it was pretty clever about 2000 years ago.
