I purchased four bottles together, only one of which I have opened so far. Here is the whole grouping.

1968 Blandy's Verdelho
1971 Cossart Gordon Sercial
1960 Miles Boal
n/v ABSL "Porto Santo" Verdelho - which I opened a few weeks ago after dinner one night during the recent Four Regions Tour. I was a bit disappointed. While still alive and "interesting" in a science experiment kind of way, it did grow on me over the course of an hour. But overall, a net fail.

re: ABSL Port'Sant'

I recently talked with a friend and he (ABSL-lover) mentioned that, whereas ABSL from the 19th and beginning 20th century from Madeira are not to be discussed because of their inferior quality those coming from Porto Santo can "vary".

2 x Barbeito Familias 50-year-old Medium Sweet Madeira

This will probably be a little too dry for me, but I like the concept and they'll be fun to share.

Nice haul!

Did you get to try the 2001 FdP? I have some myself but haven't tried it. That 50 YO Sercial sounds special. Did you get it at the Fermades' place?

Hi Marco,
The 2001 Faja dos Padres was good. I think the 90 is better but I have to keep my vertical going! And there's so little of it.
The 50 Sercial MEF was purchased at Barbeito. Ricardo said it was fantastic but only a very few bottled. Didn't get to taste it though.

Yeah, I got a vertical going as well. I did a tasting with all of them (minus the 2001), and the 1993 came out on top for me that day.

I had a chance to taste this last week at H&H, they called it the 'WOW' wine. It was my very first Bastardo tasting and what an introduction! Absolutely electric and the finish was nearly as potent as the initial taste.

Hey Glenn! Yes I about fell out of my chair when I stumbled across them. They were consigned on courtierwines.com, fingers crossed they arrive safely! If I recall correctly you got your bottles for a song. :D

I've read everything I could find about the blend but guesses on age are all over the board. I shot H&H a note to see if they'd share any information, but doubt I'll get a reply.
