Just won a single bottle of H&H Reserva Moscatel at Christies. These came from the estate and recently recorked as they do every 20-30 years with the "Heavenly Quartet." I'm guessing it's from the same era as the "Heavenly Quartet," similar to the Reserva Verdelho and Reserva Terrantez and like the latter two in not enough volume for regular commercialization. I paid more than I wanted to, but it's definitely a rare and unique bottling. There was also a BS Malvasia, I'm guessing similar to the WS Boal, but I was far out bid. Also multiple bottles of Borges Pather and 1760 Terrantez, I'm guessing from one of the family. These went for HUGE prices. Prices as a whole were very strong. I'm thinking the Madeira market may be heating up at auction again.

1880 D'Oliveiras Terrantez. It hasn't arrived yet. Scheduled delivery tomorrow :-) Refreshing the FedEx tracking again, don't want that getting lost in the post!

Andy, they had a couple at Rare Wine Co. https://www.rarewineco.com/wine/1893-ba ... -ml-68690/

I found one tasting in the members tasting DB which seemed to go over well. If anyone else has tried it interested to hear impressions! (though the tasting in the members DB seemed to imply only 12 bottles were filled from a small Demijohn).

Some info I got from RWC folks:
The 1893 is the last of the Count of Ribeiro Real's wines still in the Favila Vieiras’ possesion. Ricardo Freitas of Barbeito believes that, prior to his death in 1902, it was the very last Madeira the Count chose to leave in barrel for continued aging.

Ricardo also believes that the 1893 was made from the same Malvasia vineyards that produced the 1882, situated in the upper part of Cama do Lobos, in an area called the Estreito. As great as the 1882 is, to his palate Ricardo prefers the 1893 for its elegance and its extraordinary complexity.

Along with the other three ancient Ribeiro Real Madeiras, Ricardo considers this 1893 Malvasia “a huge treasure left to us.”

Very nice. IIRC that's usually closer to $40/bottle!

That's why the wife picked up all 15 bottles (cleared them out) for us! I like the Borges line of Madeira; well priced even at retail.

2 x Barbeito Bual 50-year-old Garrafoes do Ribeiro Real Madeira
2 x Barbeito Malvasia 50-year-old Garrafoes da Manuela Madeira

The Malvasias are for me, the Buals for a friend. Though we regularly drink together, so I'm sure we'll each get to try the other's bottles.

I managed to pick up a good amount of halves of Blandy's 1976 Terrantez. Surprised to see one poster rating Blandy's below D'Oliveiras & Cossart Gordon. I've found their vintage Sercial & Terrantez wines excellent.
