2001 Krohn's LBV Port -- Traditional

I had this a few weeks ago at the Krohn's tasting. Unfortunitly, I can't find my notes from the tasting. But I really like this one and bought about 8-9 bottles. So I took one to a friends (who is just getting into ports) this afternoon. I didn't decant and it was straight from the bottle to the glass. I am now on the second glass. Not the best I know....but read on.

A very dark ruby that fades only slightly at the rim. A wonderful nose of berries, licorice, plums, and a touch of alcohol. The first thing that hits is the massive tannins on the tongue and cheeks. This is followed by an ever increasing amount of fruit that is silky smooth. The finish is rather long and with just a touch of heat, which is very rapidly integrating. This is one to leave in the cellar for 3-5 years before it really starts to strut it's stuff. With decanting I believe this will show even better than now.

This is one of the best LBV's I've had this year. At about $13.00 a bottle I need to go back and order a case. Grab all you can and you won't go wrong with this great QPR.

About 1/2 a bottle

I ordered a couple the day of the tasting and then bought more later when I picked up the original order (I also got some other Krohn stuff, Lagrima and Cohleita). Since I'm not at home at the moment I cant recall...I got to stop drinking after the trip

Krohn LBV must be stronger than Taylor's LBV - I can drink a whole bottle of that and still count up to 9
