Reorganizing the cellar

Returning from the Harvest Tour with a carton full of Port, and a couple others from wine acquired over the past couple of months, I realized I had no place to put them.
This past weekend was spent reorganizing the cellar. Consolidating some bins and ordering others. I had mixed up bottles from all over, just sticking them anywhere they'd fit.
Now I have my newly bottled Madeiras together, as my 10 and 20 year old Tawny Ports, my 30 and 40 year old Tawnys, my Colheitas, my LBV's, and vintages all in their proper places. I even found space for a case of Vouvray sec I had sitting out for the past two years. Everything is updated in my ancient cellar tracking system.
There is a certain satisfaction with a well ordered cellar! 8--)

...and in a few weeks from now, after drinking a few and buying more, you will have to do it all over again

I'm at that stage now... in fact I really need to do a full inventory and bring CellarTracker back up to date. I've fallen behind both in posting tasting notes and updating CellarTracker because I typically do those at the same time so that I can cross-post the notes.

Now that my summer holds are starting to arrive, its time to reorganize in order to make some room and update my cellar software. I seem to always find a few bottles that I might of overlooked the last time around...which isn't necessarily bad thing!

So true! [dash1.gif]
I just ordered another case worth of Madeira, and have another case or so of Port and other wines due in a month or so! [help.gif]

I feel your pain. I am out of open racks and have yet to receive all of the wines I purchased since May. Then I will have to figure out what to do with what comes over from my UK stash. I might just wind up needing off-site storage again, which would really suck. I would rather just have one corner of my cellar clogged with cases on the floor. Such problems. [dash1.gif]

How many of those can I hold per year? [berserker.gif]

If the cellar reduction party is devoted entirely to fortified wine, that would be a staggering event. :drunk:

I've got FF miles. The vacation time is the problem. But to help out a friend, I'll see what I can do

A friend with a great wine cellar is a friend indeed.
