'Layering' My Madeira Trifecta Drinking

I keep it at 3 layers.
I start with a splash of the Broadbent 10 year Malmsey. Sweet, long, with good acidity. Finish the glass. This energizes my palate for what's to come...
Then, I crank it up a little more, with something increasingly wonderful like a shot of Barbeito 30 Year Special Lote. Deeper, longer. Finish the glass.
Lastly, I 'go for broke' with something vintage. The 1950 Barbeito VF is an outstanding one currently.
By starting on the 'lower end' and working up, I fully enjoy what I start with, and increasingly push the quality/complexity envelope. There's never a 'let-down' glass.
I love the fact that Madeira, like a Cognac, can last in an open bottle, for little nips and shots. An eternal preservation system!
