TASTING in Alberta Nov 16th: SCION – A Monument to a Lost Era with Adrian Bridge

Post by Andy Velebil »

Just ran across this tasting for Scion in Alberta Canada....

Friday, November 16, 2012
5:15pm in UTC-07

Scion is a very rare port wine dating back to 1855, a time of pre-phylloxera in Europe. Adrian Bridge of The Fladgate Partnership will speak on the discovery of this extraordinary 155 year old port and you’ll be one of very few people to ever taste Scion. It is tawny in nature and will be accompanied by other aged tawny ports from the houses of Taylor Fladgate & Fonseca Guimaraens. A once in a lifetime opportunity!

Ticekts $100

And then at 7pm they are doing a SQVP tasting...

SQVP – The Best Value in Vintage Port! with Adrian Bridge

Friday, November 16, 2012
7:00pm in UTC-07

Port is a steal…” Adrian Bridge, CEO of The Fladgate Partnership joins us for the first time in Calgary showcasing the amazing Single Quinta Vintage Ports from the houses of Taylor Fladgate, Fonseca Guimaraens & Croft. Adrian was first introduced to the port industry in 1982 when he met his wife Natasha, daughter of Alistair Robertson (owner and Chairman of the The Fladgate Partnership). Since 1994 he has been instrumental in developing their port business through acquisition of vineyards and the building
of new wineries. Adrian was also responsible for pioneering a new style of port – Croft Pink – which is the first new style to hit the market in generations.

A great evening with a dynamic and energetic family member of The Fladgate Partnership!

Looks like a great pair of tastings, but this bit of marketing spiel made me laugh!

Coincidentally, I was hosting a 1994 Vintage Port vertical for 2 dozen participants in Alberta that same evening. Timing is everything. [foilhat.gif]
