1970 Taylor Vintage Port

Post by Richard Henderson »

Opened last night. Just a rich near perfect port. Bouquet of slight mint but tastes just like a Rasperry Linzer torte pastry which is flour, raspberry, butter. Buttery rich fruit. Smooth mouth entry. Perfect balance. A little cinnamon. Not too hot, a rich brandy alcohol background. Lingering finish, near full moon. The wife and I drank it all. 8)

And do you want to confess which of you drank the most?

The 1970's do seem to be drinking well at the moment. Tom posted on the Gonzalez Byass, you on the Taylors and I posted on the Dow. All seemed to have been extremely good and impressive.

Perhaps the 1970's are "a point" right now.

Fonseca

I had the 70 Fonseca about a year ago and it was drinking very well. Exotic, peppery, and spicy. But it was so structured (iron fist) I think it will be drinking even better in about 10 years.

Interesting that so many of the 70's show promise for the long haul.
