1992 Taylor with seal ABOVE lead capsule?

Post by JDK »

I have not seen this before, so I want to confirm that there is nothing funny going on - I recently bid and won at an auction, several 1992 Taylor 375ml bottles. I just received the bottles and noticed the seal of guarantee above the lead capsule, something I have not seen before. Typically, only the 2 ends of the seal can be seen on either side of the bottle since the seal is UNDER the capsule (as is depicted on the "For the Love of PORT" picture of the bottle on the top left of the page). Has anyone seen this before? Should I worry about the authenticity of the bottles? Thanks

JK,

Nothing to worry about. This is quite common with VP, especially if the bottles have been released late by the shipper. The capsules would be applied on bottling (1994) and the IDVP label applied on release some time after.
