The wine that kindled my passion for madeira. Drunk many times over the years, and always wonderful. Gaining more complexity and subtlety as it ages. Medium dark. Same cognac, nut and citrus nose, with these flavors persisting in the mouth. Excellent acidity. Long finish. 19.5/20. On this occasion served with an excellent bottle of 1827 Quinta do Serrado Bual. I marginally preferred the 1827; the group was evenly divided. (1/11/11).
