Barbeito 20 year old Bastardo. I love this stuff!

Eric, was it this year's Barbeito Bastardo 20-year-old Lot 1 or the 2021 version of 67 bottles from the Mistura collection?

Borges 1990 Sercial.

I organised a 5-bottle tasting for work colleagues

Sercial 1993 Barbeito
Verdelho 1976 Blandy's
Terrantez 1900 Unknown
Boal 1900 Adegas de Souza
Malvasia 1834 Barbeito

All the madeiras showed well. It was the first time I had tried the 1993 MEF Sercial (bottled 2019). I was very impressed; a winner for fans of Sercial

That 1834 Barbeito Malvasia is very nice! Pricey now, though. Didn't used to be!

And the 1834 has only gotten better with time.

Cossart Gordon Terrantez 1975 (bottled 2020)

I don't have any other Terrantez from the Madeira Wine Co. open to directly compare, but it seems a touch sweeter than Blandy's bottlings.

Much less barrel influence than the 1977 Blandy's which has almost as much time in the barrel. (2015 bottling).

95g/l residual sugar.

I have been thinking of purchasing, but I have my reservations considering that high of a sugar level (given the fact it is T)...

It’s a tasty pour with a nice richness and respectable acid. But more like a spicy Boal than a traditional Terrantez.

All in, this bottle cost me $235, which feels like a bargain for a very nice 45yo Madeira.

My label is exactly the same, except it has Solera on it.
