1977 Quarles Harris Vintage Port

Post by Rico Thompson »

A bit crusty under the cap and sporting a thoroughly soaked cork which came out in two stages, the second requiring some finesse….none-the-less holding a distinctly vibrant ruby hue and presenting itself in a rather infant fashion. Good cellaring vs. closure – cellaring wins this round!

Savored over the course of three evenings…..kept unwinding and gaining momentum, on day 3 really showing its power. Glowing ruby purple with a deep penetrating body and depth….blackberries, red raspberries, cassis and violets….great length and muscle on the finish which stays glued to your tongue for quite some time. That(!) makes me smile. Still a tad primary for my palate....I'll try to hang on for another 5 or more years until popping the next. Three stars (91)

Fine observations Rico. How long did you decant your bottle for? Also, have you owned these for a long time or did you find these recently? Thanks!
