Port tasting at Wine Exchange in Orange, Ca. Thurs Sept 19th, 2013

SPECIAL EVENT: 2011 PORT PREVIEW E MAIS (M) 4:00-6:30
Thursday, September 19
‘E mais’ is Portuguese for ‘and more’ (according to Google translate, anyway), but the headliners make for quite a topic all on their own. In case you hadn’t heard, 2011 is not only a declared vintage for Porto but said to be one for the ages. James Suckling, formerly of Wine Spectator and author of a book on Port, called it “the best since the 1994, and perhaps even better.” We’ll have the opportunity to taste barrel samples of the 2011 Graham’s, Dow’s, Quita do Vesuvio, and Smith Woodhouse. If that’s not enough, how about a demonstration of aging potential with tastes from some epic oldies like Dow’s 1995, Grahams 1994, Smith Woodhouse 1994, and Quinta do Vesuvio 1994? We’ll also do a couple of other port styles and a Madeira mini-camp. The downside is that space is limited because of the limited quantities of the rare wines and barrel samples. So reservations are very strongly encouraged for this event. A bargain at $29.
