Broadbent Old Reserve Terrantez

Had this wine tonight as a pop and pour, and so because of that, I am going to try to be as gentle and optimistic as I can be about this wine (at least for the next 10 days) On a pop and pour, the first thing that strikes me as curious is the light color of the wine. Its hue appears as light a 15-20 year old Terrantez from any other producer. Its nose also appears as a 15-20 year old Terrantez from any other producer. Taste is rather sharply acidic, while dull on the finish. This wine (at the moment) offers very little pleasure. Very, very hard to understand how a wine purported to be 50 plus years of age can have such youthful tendencies. I am not doubting the veracity of anything that has been stated before about the age range of this wine. I am curious, however, to understand how such an old wine can have such a pale color and such a youthful and primary nose.We drank this in the company of about ten other youngish non-vintaged wines, and it was number 8 or 9 in the tasting. Was really hoping I would like this wine as I love other Terrantez based wines I have had in the past with similar age. This wine is attractive at $35 per bottle. At $150, an easy pass. I will revisit this over the next ten days and post if any changes occur. I really hate to post such a negative tasting note.
