funny video. One forgets how one's own luggage is probably handled as out-of-sight is out-of-mind. But why not just pack bubble wrap?

They seal with Velcro? I have a similar type of device that seals using double ziplock, which seems to me to be a better seal.

Mine also uses foam padding instead of air pockets, which I suppose probably isn't quite as protective as the Wine Cradle, but once it's in my suitcase and also surrounded by dirty clothes it's pretty well protected. The advantage of foam padding is that it isn't nearly as bulky.

But it looks like a decent product. I hope they succeed!

I already have an air-pocket based wine transport case, a VinniBag:


I've used it on single bottle trips and probably will use it again, but I don't think air-pocket based is ideal because of changing air pressure during your trip. The bag will expand and get more firm as the plane ascends to a pressurization of 8,000 feet, and then if you land at sea level, it will contract and possibly leave a bit of a void. And I take off at ~5,000 feet, so when I land at sea level, there is less air packing for my bottle.

Portuguese Post Offices (not the smaller ones) sell an excellent bottle carrier that I have used both for travelling and for posting Port to the US. Cannot remember the price, but about €2 comes to mind. Just buy as many as you need when you are over here - or use them both ways as my MIL does when she visits twice a year.

I need to take a picture of all of my wine transport devices that I have at home for flying with wine. A few of them are really cool; even one's that go inside normal luggage. Using one of these on Friday.

Do post. I've just shoved a 4-bottle cardboard and styro wine shipper in my bag for my flight tomorrow. Wish there was a better way than the large box when carrying more than one or two bottles.

I keep a few of the styro shippers around and use them when I want to travel with a few bottles, say 3. I might put a few bottles of my brew in to take with me, and bring back wine. I usually tape the styro shipper seam so that even if the bottle broke, the liquid would still be contained within the styro. Of course it is probably unlikely that the bottle would break without the styro being significantly damaged as well, but tape is cheap and light.
