A concise and easy to understand intro to the world of Port. If it lacks anything it is information explaining the differences between the early days of Port and the Douro valley and how it is today, but that is such a complex subject it perhaps doesn't belong in a basic intro.

A minor nitpick, but the Douro wasn't the first legally demarcated wine region. That distinction belongs to Chianti in 1716, followed by Tokaji in 1730. However, the Douro was the first wine region to be demarcated and regulated. So like I said, a minor nitpick.
Another minor nitpick is that, while technically correct, I don't find it useful to categorize Port as wood-aged and bottle-aged in the way that they've done here. It's essentially a meaningless distinction, as all it does is separate Vintage Port and Crusted Port out from all the rest. A far more meaningful separation is Ruby vs Tawny vs White. A Ruby Reserve, while technically a wood-aged Port, has far more in common with a Vintage Port than it has with a 40-yr old Tawny.
But really, overall, this is a fantastic website. Really well done! I'll have to start pointing people to it.
