Well I will likely not know a soul that will be attending this event, except for one individual I've known of from other wine forums for many years now. It will be fun to meet an entirely new group of Port lovers in the Windy City. I heard it was 10 degrees there today. Crazy, but I don't mind cold, at all. We'll see what that's like with the lake across the street from where I am staying. I may change my mind.

Forecast has 10@21 for tomorrow... properly cold out there.

On a different note, I find it fantastic and comforting that there are pockets of Port lovers scattered pretty much everywhere! After all, someone has to be drinking all the increasing volumes of Port imported into the US.

Still find it amazing though, since few bars carry good stuff and both there and at restaurants the chance of getting a good experience is low given how bottles are stored, how long they are open...

well at least we will get too meet down in LA, so that's what is most important.

We did have one 1955 Fonseca this evening. It was showing beautifully and bested a 1980 Chateau d'Yquem. There were 26 people at a wine dinner here to welcome me to Chicago which was very nice and I guess I'll just have to come back again.

Now tonight is the big Port horizontal and there will only be 15 guests, so pours will be decent and we'll have a nice set up for having good conversations.
