If the wine is worth drinking, this would be handy for backpacking, flying, etc. where package weight is a concern.

For the right wines it works. I don't see this as a negative.

I've done multiple backpacking trips with beer in my pack ... and I would not think that wine would offer the same feeling as a beer after the exertion of getting to the top of the mountain. But maybe for a pic-nic. I would give it a shot under the right circumstances.

One commenter on instagram mentioned outdoor concerts... definitely a good idea, but I would still think that you would pour it into something, right? and not swig it from the can. I think that is the biggest hurdle.

Could definitely see myself having some chilled Vinho Verde off of one of these cans!

I have two piece Lexan wine glasses for flying and backpacking. Very light, and pretty compact. Except for winter backcountry snowboarding, I generally find weight to be the first problem in packing, not space.

If at all possible, when backpacking I try to pack a couple cans of beer for the first night. Typically in the Sierra I'm camping at an elevation somewhere between 8,000-14,000 feet, consequently it tends to be a bit chilly. A little wine would be perfect for these trips and since I also have some lexan wine glasses, I'd be able enjoy the wine from a proper vessel.
