Just looking for some info please

Post by Darren A. »

hi I'm so sorry but i'm not a port enthusiast i'm just looking for some help on a bottle of port I found while clearing out my granddads house. Amongst some vintage Whiskeys I found a bottle of cockburns fine old ruby, I have tried searching for this particular bottle online but I havn't found this particular bottle. I don't even know the date :?: Can anyone please help me to identify it, This might not be anything special at all but I found it quite strange that I couldn't find a match online.

I'd say you have an old bottle of an entry level Port that was never meant to be aged. Enjoy it as an experiment, as it isn't worth much were you to sell it.

Eric is correct. This is a bottle that is aimed at the UK market and does not make it over to the USA unless hand carried. This is likely a bottle which was quite inexpensive and sold at Tesco, Marks & Spencer etc.

Not worth selling, if you enjoy an occasional tipple, the feel free to share some with friends or sip it slowly over the course of a week. Otherwise, you can certainly cook with it and either make a reduction sauce or use it to sautee mushrooms and/or onions.
