MOPHIE "RED"

I have been given a Mophie Red Juicepack (
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/control ... &A=details) and although I know it can charge phones, iPads etc ... would it be able to charge a laptop computer without damaging it?

Doubtful. It only charges devices that can accept a USB power source, and that's not likely on a laptop.
Not to mention that it's only 4000 mAh (about double the size of a smartphone battery) and has a max rating of 2.1A for charging. My netbook's charger is rated at 3.5A... I'd guess your laptop's is even higher than that.

I do have a USB Port (actually 2 of them on my Lenovo Thinkpad. So, no way?
Would it hurt the laptop in any way ... or could I even get an hour add on charge to the battery from this Mophie device?

Extremely unlikely. A typical Lenovo thinkpad battery is around 10V, from which the lower USB voltage of 5V is derived and output on the USB sockets. While electronically it would be possible for someone to design buffers and voltage doublers to allow charging of the laptop via USB, it could be highly inefficient compared with charging at 10V from regulated mains input as well as costing additional money/weight/space to include such circuitry - I am not aware of any laptops which can be charged via the USB port.

Still doubtful. USB charging requires a special port*. Your laptop is extremely unlikely to have that kind of port.
* yes, techies, I'm fudging here.
