Madeira with chocolate or cheese?
Obviously, there is a lot of people who like their Port with chocolate or cheese or even a good cigar (hopefully sans the smoking jacket
). Other than by itself, what are your thoughts regarding things to eat or snack on with Madeira?

There is a honey cake from Madeira called bolo de mel which works great with Madeira.

I'd lean cheese, especially if there were nuts and honey involved.

One of my favorite pairings is with Pata Negra. The acidity of the Madeira vs. the creamy/salty nature of the ham is a great mix.

Verdelho with Szechuan- salty-sweet-spicy synergy.

I'll do any combo of the three, but neither are preferred for Madeira. I'd rather have nuts or cured meats.

My favorite pairing is Verdelho and French Onion soup done the old fashioned way.

Not a fan of chocolate with Madeira. I think the bitterness detracts.
