I suspect we'll see more of these type of cases as people are now much more aware of who and what is suspect. But you have to wonder how seemingly smart wealthy people can't figure out that buying a case of 1900 Chateau XXX in perfect condition, where no one has ever seen more than a rare bottle here and there, is probably not a good idea as it's most likely fake.

My own feeling is that people who buy wine as an investment probably deserve what they get.

If you saw the artwork and thought it was worth $8 million, what difference does it make if it is a fake or not?

Of course with wine, it might not taste like the real thing.

I disagree. Why would someone who likes wine and would like to invest not combine both? What's the difference between an 18th century wine bottle and another collectible? I've seen people paying high amounts for old guns that they will never use. Similar to buying an old wine that you will never drink....

Perhaps we should look at old wines as pieces of art and open a museum to display them in :)

My Mogen David 20/20 is now suspect of being fake?

The collector, who paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for the bottles in 2006 and 2007, is suing the seller, the Antique Wine Company, based in London, for $25 million.

Oh wow... Some of my 1994 Vesuvio is from them! But, of course I don't believe that it's fake
