Yes,
You all thoguht I had had gotten lost on the wrong board, but on another BB I posted notes and request for info/history about a 1973 Heitz Tawny Port with the unmistakable Heitz label. It was appareantly an experiment, maybe done to coincide with a Heitz anniversary. It was a knockout , wonderful, wine reminding me of the finest Australian stickies. It was served by a local wine friend who bought it many years ago.
Once again , if anyone knows any history of this wine, please post. Has anyone else ever tried it, heard of it , seen it?
Sounds like we're talking about the Ivory Billed Woodpecker of wine!

Back in the old days, Heitz Wine Cellars used to sell several wines they didn't really produce.
For example, they used to buy Barbera from Sebastiani, and it was bottled with the P&B line "Cellared and Bottled by Heitz Winery, Sonoma, California."
They used to bottle an Angelica and a Tawny Port as well -- IIRC, these were wines that were purchased from a winery in Cucamonga (or perhaps the Central Valley) and then bottled by Heitz.
Cheers,
Jason

Porto comes from only one place . . . no matter what the label says!
