Last year in May we had the wonderful two days of tasting in SF
. I brought 1863 Boal Barbeito and 1900 Moscatel D'Oliveira...
Decanted and since many flights did not put the wines back into the bottles, but in 0.5 Liter water bottles , all clean, removed the water and then filled up, marked the bottles for travel.
After tasting I brought the plastic bottles home because I wanted to see how long the smell will last..
A few days ago I found one of the 1900 Moscatel in the garage , forgotten, with 2-3 cl wine. Smelled fantastic and let a friend of my, a portexpert, soon to join this forum, drink the last drops.... He was so impressed... 13 months since decanting, at the bottom of 0.5 liter bottle.. In a garage which keep minus centigrades for many months... A part of the time, frozen wine...
