New on the FTLOP Site: Quinta do Mourão

Post by Cynthia J »

Just posted today, a profile of Quinta do Mourão, who produce the S. Leonardo ports as well as Rio Bom Douro DOC wines. Subscribers to the Newsletter may recall that the S. Leonardo 30 Year Old Tawny Port was singled out by Roy for the 2014 FTLOP Awards. Miguel Braga was a very gracious and entertaining host, I thoroughly enjoyed my day with him in the Douro. Read the article here http://www.fortheloveofport.com/2014/06 ... ta-mourao/ and read the amazing collection of tasting notes for their Port wines here http://www.fortheloveofport.com/tndb/se ... S+Leonardo with many contributions from Roy and our readers.

I also would like to take this opportunity to apologise to readers for the uneven feed of content to the blog - health issues have prevented my travelling or working as planned.

Miguel is a great guy and makes some of the best TWAIOA I've had. And his Douro wines, although made in a slightly different style than most, are really good as well. I wish he had an importer here in the states so I could more easily get them. I've got a 30 year old tawny from him on death row at the moment.

Hi Andy, our TNDB has no notes for the Unreported brand Ports - including a 30 YO - that he makes for Schlossadler (CA based importer). There is a link in the text to the releveant page on their site. I was wondering how those might compare, if you or anyone reading this should taste those I would love to hear about it, either here or on the comment thread on the article page (as well as TNDB of course!).

And Steve, thank you for the kind words, deeply appreciated!

I assume this must be a new venture as I've not heard of it before. I looked at the importers website. I almost fell out of my chair at the prices for the 10 and 30 year old bottles...a .375ml (per case of 12) is $50 per bottle for the 10 year old  Don't ask about the 1/2 bottle of 30 year old.....
