Quinta do Noval Nacional mini-vertical

Post by Russ A. »

I have for sale four bottles of Quinta do Noval Nacional, one from each of the 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2003 vintages. I recently listed them on ThePortForum as I am based in London, but was advised by the good folk on there that it may also be worth listing them on here to increase exposure, specifically to people from over the pond who may be interested.

Rather than duplicating everything, please find below the link to the posting on the other site:

(I hope I'm not breaking any unwritten rules by posting a link to another site - apologies if so!)

Please PM me on either forum if you are interested or if you have any questions.

1994 Nacional is listed for 750.00 GBP = 1,283.07 USD
wine-searcher shows JJ Buckley, from whom I have made a number of purchases from in the past, has it listed for US $999.99, and three other retailers have it for less than US$ 1283. This might be a tough sell on this side of the pond.

Thanks Eric. It seems rather unusually that the Nacional 1994 is cheaper stateside (and availability is better) than back in Blighty. As you can see from the original post I was reluctant to set a price (instead preferring to consider offers) due to the lack of availability and therefore comparable pricing evidence in the UK. The feedback on the prices I set from the UK side has been tentatively positive, although clearly this is hypothesis as the bottles are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them...

While most Port is cheaper in the UK, and I am regularly jealous of prices on your side, it appears that isn't the case for Nacional, across many recent vintages. Good luck with your sale.

Recently an individual was selling the 1994 Nacional and other vintages for $700 per bottle. That may be why there is some reluctance as he came back a 2nd time with the same pricing (IIRC) and lots of people bought in.
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Prices have now been reduced as a final offer before I send to auction:
