Well I learned something there... I didn't know that zinfandel and primitivo were the same grape.
I don't get to see it much although they do grow a bit at Margaret River. I'm starting to notice a few local wines being labeled as primitivo.

I had a 1972 Sebastiani Zin that was quite good. Done is a traditional style of around 13% alcohol; if only more Zin's were done in this style I'd buy them more often. The bottle said the Zin has been planted in CA since the Civil War. Doesn't sound so new world to me on the face of it. Seems like Ridge is the go to brand for Zin on the global market.
