See if you fit the profile of an addict:

How many of these 10 dynamics fit you like a glove?

Phew, only about 3 out 10. I think there should have been some mention of:
- How many e-mails per day do you get offering wine for sale? Above some number, say 5, is an indicator.
- How much do you look at auctions for wine buying?

3 out of 10 for me as well.

1 yes that's true.

2 we sort of joke about, but never really get around to "drinking down" the cellar. At the rate I drink out of the cellar (as opposed to buying another 20-yr old or LBV to drink), I probably have about 50 years worth of wine saved up. So I can't really count 2 as being true.

3 isn't the spare bedroom, it's the front hallway. Of course we rationalize that the "box wall" is to keep the dogs out of the living room/dining room, but said box wall is full of wine so it's really just overflow storage.

7 isn't my spare bedroom, it's my "office" which now has 3 wine fridges in it.

Only one for me! But I'm downsizing the cellar numbers. [d_training.gif]

if we are just looking at wine, I think I am ok. But if I look at my combined beer and wine purchases I might have a problem!

I get emails from vendors saying I have wine to pick up and my question is usually, "what did I order?" [help.gif]

License plate is BAROLO

This buying wine thing is a tough one to get a handle on...
Took work taking a tough turn to get things under control. Not the best way about it but the effects seem to have lasted longer than the tough turn, which was been nice on the wallet!

"I used to have a drug problem, now I make enough money." - David Lee Roth

Finding the deal is always a real thrill. The key is being able to exercise restraint after finding the deal, because this is a finite exercise, after all (for me, anyway). How much can I keep on hand, and how much can I consume by myself and with friends? By limiting the size of each purchase, I also limit my risk on each individual purchase. Not that I don't go for depth ever (that deal has to be ridiculous for that to happen), but I generally like breadth over depth when I collect. It's a wide world of wine out there, and discovery is part of the game, I mean addiction, for me, also.
