I did not have time to write down ALL of the prices and skipped the plethora of 10 and 20 year old Ports on the shelf. However, I captured about 80% of what was in the QFC supermarket here. Now this is not like Tesco or anything like that, but a local grocery store (chain).
Vintage Ports:
Rocha (Barros branded this)
1991 $38
2000 $45
2003 $49
others:
1997 Vesuvio $60
2000 Kopke $42.50
Colheita:
Rocha 1989 $34
Rocha 1994 $28
LBVs:
1999 Q d Noval $23
1995 Warre's $24
2000 Rocha $18
2000 Infantado $30
2000 Taylor $20
2000 Dow $18
So although we have some of the highest sales and also "luxury use" taxes in the country (because we have no state income tax
) it was really impressive to see this kind of depth in a supermarket while I was food shopping. I have seen WINE shops locally with less of a selection than this!
