TN: 1981 Barbeito Verdelho Vintage Madeira

Post by Tom Chadwick »

On the weekend I thought I would try a bit of food matching, courtesy of the back label.

We drank Barbeito 1981 Verdelho with Devilled Chicken Liver Pate.

The Pate had a tiny bit of spice in it and the two combined perfectly.
Everyone at the meal was blown away, some guys had never even had Madeira before. This is a great time of year for eating and drinking so I would highly recommend trying it for yourselves.

Bon Appetite

Glad to hear the '81 Verdelho is slipping down a treat. And a great food match by the sound of it.

Another great Madeira/food match in my opinion and one we have discussed on this forum before is Sercial and a Caprese salad. Make a simple salad of tomatoes and red onion, add some shavings of really good parmesan and a drizzle with aged balsamic and the finest extra virgin olive oil you can find. Warm up a rosemary foccacia and just enjoy. It doesn't get much better than this!
