I always like this port, but it's been a while since I last tasted it, a good excuse to revisit it.
Polite nose with dried lemon zest, dried orange peel and some caramel. Light and semi-sweet palate, very easy drinking with citrus flavours and nuts. Fresh. It gets a bit livelier when chilled, gains a bit in body and gains some darker roasted nut flavours. Well balanced I still like it. It's nothing complicated but a lovely, easy drinker. 86 points.

IMO, the Otima 10YOT is a nice, uncomplicated port. I like it especially chilled as aperitive, when I don't feel like something that's very complex. Besides, I like the idea behind the port, it helps shaking of that dusty image of port.
I never tasted the 20YOT but heard it's a lot better than the 10YOT. I will certainly buy a bottle when I come across it.

That's fair enough! :) Tastes vary of course, but I tend to want a bit more savouryness to my ports - fruit simply is not enough for me. And the couple times I tasted the Otima 10 YO, I didn't find it had enough of the savoury characters. The 20YO did. But I do agree that sometimes a nice simple drink is what I want - but then I tend to find LBVs more satisfying. De gustibus non est disputandum....KillerB wrote:I'm with Ronald on this one. I enjoy this more than most 10yo tawnies because it is simple, not despite it.
