We had the recent discussion of the 1991/1992 back to back vintages. I decided it was time to try my 1991 Fonseca. I decanted last night and it was hot and tight.
I left it in a loosely stoppered decanter and now the color is a beautiful youthful color you see on port book covers.
Still quite a lot of spirit on the nose but not too hot or distracting. Nice red currant jam nose with a hint of wood smoke and maybe some bay rum. Great smooth mouth entry, more ripe red fruit and spice. A little thin on the mid palate and finish. Very nice, about 90 points. Not on par with the 92 Fonseca.
