1985 Napa Valley Port Cellars Vintage port

Post by Julian D. A. Wiseman »

This forum has inspired me to be more thorough about tasting notes, starting with a bottle of non-port, “Napa Valley Port Cellars”, the old (by American standards) vintage of 1985.

On decanting it was sweet, simple, and short (not long in the palate). Six hours later, after going to and winning some port at Sotheby's, and joining a friend for four pints of beer (who had just won his first ever lot of wine), it was still sweet and simple. Less short, though neither long nor complicated, with a hint of strawberry. Unremarkable, at best.

This was produced by FTLOP member Shawn Denkler back when he was importing and making wine. I've had it too, and for a California port (note the little "p") it was one of the best I've had, and at 22 years old too, which is quite remarkable for a domestic product.

(note the little "T")
Andy,
Forgive me for asking a silly question, but what does that "T" stand for?
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Well, there once was this little man from the moon, who had no shoes.......

Like the saying above, I have NO idea :help: except for my poor typing skills courtesy of the public education system here in L.A. Should be a "p" which I will change :?
