Quinta Do Noval 1998 LBV question

Has anyone tried this porto? I am thinking about grabbing a bottle or two to try and wanted to get some feedback if this is a decent LBV. I've had the Taylor's 1998 LBV, which I liked, but not this one yet. An information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

I've never been a fan of Taylor LBV, too dry and not rich enough for me. And for the Noval LBV 1998, I find the fruit overipe for my taste at this stage. Normally Noval is in the top producers for LBV, it is again in the top 3 producers for the 1998 LBV but I did not find many good LBV from this vintage. I would focus on vintages like 96,97,99 and soon 2000 where I found the overall quality of LBVs way better .

If I had to choose between a bottle of Taylor and Noval, without hesitation Noval.

Fred,

Thanks, I think I may grab just one bottle to try, since I havn't had a LBV from Noval. After all its cheap, only about $15-16 (US). I'll definitely have to keep my eye out for the other years you mentioned.

I think it's a terrific value LBV, and kicks the Taylors and Grahams versions into touch...worth getting a bundle of them, not one or two, yet the '98 is not even the best year but still stacked with fruit and interest - and is very youthful with upside attached.
