Portwine.com (and others) for sale

Post by S. Marello »

I have a friend in Canada that is the owner of several internet domains, such as portwine.com, portwineclub.com, Iloveport.com. He is now interested in selling these domains to the best offer (wether it's from a Port company or any other "fortified wine" region in the world.

Vodka.com was sold for 3 million dollars US. I'm sure portwine.com will not fetch anything like this, but it's a great opportunity for a lot of people around the world.

PM me if you know anyone that might have an interest in this and for the complete list of available domains (17 in total).

I haven't voted because although I would love to see the domain names owned by the IVDP or by one of the large producers, I just don't think that the IVDP could afford the sort of money that might be needed to buy this domain name.

Personally, I would prefer that the money that would be spent on updating their website and improving the information provided there.

As this website is dedicated to the love of Port I think the best answer would be for your friend to gift portwine.com to the IDVP to ensure it doesn't fall into the hands of any imposters.

I agree with both of the above.

In reality I would also love to see the IVDP improve their website before they get anymore. They are the governing body and their website, well lets just say its is seriously lacking for a governing body.

S. Marello,

if you have any contacts at the IVDP, can you please pas this on. They really do need to update and improve thier site.

Thanks

Andy,

I have done it in the past, without any great effect, obviously. Anyway, we'll keep on trying.

Cheers

I'd love to have that name!!!! If they are willing to sell it, I'd be very happy to give them a FTLOP tee shirt for the rights to it.
