I took this bottle along on a ski road trip this week and drank it over 3 days. I decant it for 7 hours but probably should have done 12, this wine is so youthful that it will last another 30 years easy. At it's peak on the 2nd day, the tannins resolved, the nose was wonderful and the finish was long and luscious. A 95+ point wine.

I'm planning on opening a 77 Taylor and a 77 Fonseca for my b-day in early April. In your opinion, should I go for 12+ hours in a decanter? Or, pop the cork and just let them sit overnight?
I just have one bottle of each, so I want to get the most out of them...

The 77's seem to benefit from a lot of time in decanter.
The downsides of decanting too soon are tiny compared to those of decanting too late, so for an evening dinner party, I'd pop the bottles at lunchtime of the previous day.

I agree with Tom, you won't go wrong with a longer decant.
