1965 Vintage Port

Post by Derek T. »

Roy,

I see you have a TN from 2002 for a Graham's Malvedos 1965. Can I ask you where you found this as I am trying to collect at least one bottle from each house that declared that year as it was the year I was born.

I currently have 3 Fonseca Guimaraens, 4 Taylors Vargellas, 1 Dow's Quinta do Bomfim and 1 Messias. I am particularly proud of finding the Bomfim as I believe only 2 pipes of this were made so by now it must be very rare. Believe it or not I actually picked this bottle up on Ebay for £20  - if I live to be 100 I will open this one.

So far I have only tasted a bottle of the Fonseca, which was very nice (sorry, no TN) but not a top quality VP. I had this with my family on my 40th birthday along with a Krohn Colhieta 1965, which was better. To be honest, I am collecting these 65's for their sentimental value rather than their quality. I plan to open one on my birthday each year so need to keep finding them in case I live long enough to drink the 1965 cellar dry!

I haven't found the Malvedos 65 for sale anywhere and yours is the first tasting note I have seen. Krohn also decalred that year but the bottles I have found for sale seem incredibly expensive, especially as Krohn don't seem to be well known for their VP.

If you or anyone else have any suggestions on where I might find either the Malvedos or the Krohn at a resonable price it would be appreciated.

Regards

Derek
