What does "VTS" mean?

Post by Robert O. »

Forgive me if this is a basic question, but I was looking at a bottle of 1983 Taylor and in the notes it was listed as "VTS". What does this mean? Is it a serious flaw?

VTS = level at Very Top Shoulder.

For a Taylor '83, this indicates a little seepage - probably the runt of a case, although if a whole case is at this level then something has gone badly wrong with the cellaring...

If it's a lone bottle then buy cheap and drink soon.

Thanks, Tom. It's cheap but not that cheap. I think I can find a better bottle for a similar price.
