Madeira restaurant recommendations

Post by Roy Hersh »

Bob or others that have been to the island before.

I am heading to Madeira with Mario, after our first trip to the Douro/Gaia/Porto. Have all the appointments set up on the island for Adegas, vineyards, etc. and know where to go for the best wine shops.

I would like a few restaurant recommendations from those that know of haut cuisine as well as small family run food operations that do not care about tourism.

Thanks in advance!

Roy,

A second hand recommendation is Reid's hotel. My friend found it eye wateringly expensive last month, but the experience was worthwhile.

Best wishes

Thanks, but mentioning Reid's Hotel is like telling people to dine at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. I appreciate the effort though.
