I just compared the Rare Wine Co price with what I paid in 2003 at D'Oliveiras in Funchal. Add the bad $ to € conversion rate these days and you have a very good deal here for a very good old Madeira wine.

And one more thing must be said about D'Olivieras in general:
After tasting their wines at maybe 60 occasions I can only state that their overall quality was/is VERY good.

I write this, because I feel that in the Madeira wine community this producer is somewhat underestimated, where in fact D'Oliveiras offers very good wines for reaonable prices.

And no, I have no connection with D'Oliveiras :D (unfortunately not :( , too bad...)

I was actually in attendance in the New York tasting that Mannie refers to in the newsletter and can say he is dead on as to how it showed. It really gave the 1903 D'Oliveira Boal a run as one of the best wines of the night and I went out and bought some the next week.
