A thread on another forum brought this back to the front of my mind. I would like to find a place in the US that sells a high quality port tong. Anyone know where to find them at?

Thanks

Looking through the posts with no replies and found this one. Andy, I dunno if you found your tongs yet. I can't find them in the US...best 2nd choice I found was portwine.com in Canada.

As I see it, it'll be a while before I need them anyway.

Alec,

Thank you for the info. At the moment I am waiting patiently as Roy is working on some.

Andy, I bought a pair like the Romariz last year but from Sandeman. This year I was told that this kind of port tongs is mainly for decoration. Anyone tried this model before?

I have a similar pair (bought at the Noval store in Gaia) - they are indeed not too good. The problem is that the part you're heating is too thin: if you grap the bottle too low on the neck, the metal quickly bends out of shape. You'll never get a good, even grip on a neck again (that sounds pretty bad, BTW).

Can we perhaps find some general descriptions of the schematics for a goof set of port tongs?

While I am quite inept making such things, my father would be perfect. Perhaps I could have him fashion a pair for me as he has done just such a thing for decades.

Jay.
