1995 Warre's LBV Port

I had a chance to pop open this bottle the other night. I did not, however, really track it closely for a proper tasting note, just enjoyed drinking it while I puttered around the house. Very deep, dark fruit, good body, and well-balanced. For my tastes, a very nice wine, and a reasonable price at $25.

Anyone else had any experiences with this one recently?

I've had several bottles of this and it never disappoints. A very good QPR, and worth buying. IIRC, I've got about 1/2 case or so left 8--)

This is my every day LBV, it's not as good as the 94 but for the money it's hard to beat.

Sounds like you guys are finding it as I did, and I'll assume for roughly the same price. If you have a local source for half, let me know!! ;)

I can usually find it for $22-25 a bottle around me, and worth every penny.

I too like this wine. For a local source, its all over the place...try BevMo (Daly City/Colma), or further south Beltramo's.

I too saw this at Beltramos in Redwood City while I was there, but the budget was blown with some other higher-priced items and I didn't have any space left in my luggage! :)

I really shouldn't mention that we got this at £5 per bottle here, recently, that would be too cruel.

You're right Alex - you shouldn't. It would be. :? I can't seem to source it locally - closest place is in Calgary - a mere 3 hour drive

WOW  what a great price. I would have bought all they had for that price.

That is a great price, send a freighter's worth to the US!

Moses,

Unfortunately, the normal market price for the Warre 1995 Traditional LBV in the UK is about the same as in the US - £12.50-£15 or roughly $25-$30.

The £5 bottles from Asda just vanished into thin air. Between 5 of us (Derek, Tom, Alex K, Alan and myself) we managed to pick about 4 cases and the rest went to other mysterious port fans who we have yet to tempt onto the forum. If we could send pallet loads over to the US then we'd be happy to.

Sadly, there are no more stocks at that price.
