Taylor Vinha Velha Vargellas 2004

As the bottles of 95 and 2000 are not selling fast at the SAQ, the importer will not order any 2004 to be sell at the SAQ.

Though I have just called him and he is willing to import some bottles for me. They sell by cases of 3 that should end up between 850 and 900$ can.

If someone is interested to buy a case, I'd make an effort to include you with my order.

Please send me a PM and I'll give you more details about the procedures.

Hi there Frederick,

What are the regulations and limitation for a citizen of Canada that gets back from vacations in Portugal to carry wine?

2 bottles that are not charged with taxes. And up to 12 more bottles that you pay in taxes 100% of the amount you paid. If you can't show bills, they have books to verify the prices of bottles. It is not cheap to get over the limit, but normally the rules are not always applied by the book so just be nice and the custom agents will be nice too.

I'll share my experience in clearing bottles through Canadian Customs. Frederick is really correct when he says that you need to be nice to the agents.
Last year in February I was invited to host a Port dinner in Toronto by my good friend Luiz Conceição. As I had no chance of finding all the Romariz wines I needed over there, I decided to bring them myself. In total I had a full suitcase with 19 bottles od Port in it. As soon as landed in Toronto I went ot the Customs office and declared them. After a few laughs and jokes I got away with paying approx. 45 euros in taxes for the whole lot, so it was really worth it. Just be nice to the guys and you might be ok.

Cheers

Stefano makes a great point. I always declare the exact number of bottles that I have brought in/out of the country and have never had any issue whatsoever. I have only seen one incident where people on our 2007 Fortification Tour were returning to the USA from Portugal with 2 styro shippers (I think they had 18-20 bottles ... it was a couple) and the US Custom's guy stopped them and made them go for an inspection. They wound up opening the boxes, but paid no duty or penalty. Coincidentally, I walked directly next to them with a full shipper and the Customs guy I walked by, did not seem to care at all. He did not even ask me what was in the box.
