FTLOP is not named in the linked article, but Mario and I donated the Portugal trip mentioned in this article. I worked in conjunction with Norm Roby from Decanter Magazine to make this one heck of a great excursion and worthy of the charity it was being provided for. It was the top seller in this year's wine auction, with the bidding topping out at $62,000 or our trip as you can read here:

Roy,

Your efforts to help others out through fortheloveofport.com, whether it's transporting a bottle to Canada for someone who otherwise couldn't get it at a fair price, or making an amazing donation to charity, are outstanding, and a set a benchmark that I am sure is unmatched by others in the industry. Keep up the super work!

Theo,

Thanks for the very kind words. It was very satisfying being able to participate by donating our trip to this very worthy cause. I must admit that I was stunned at what someone was willing to pay for the experience. Maybe we'll have to rethink the pricing of our trips. :Naughty:

Roy, your generosity certainly is very inspiring. So long as you don't raise those prices PRIOR to my making it out on one of these trips! ;)

Todd,

By the time you decide to come along, the US dollar will be subservient to the Canadian dollar so it might not matter. :D

Due respect to the Charitable Donor!

We're getting the two for one deal on the Dollar! Wish I could take advantage of it. I reckon we'll get Four to the Dollar if your daft enough to vote in Hillary!

You may want to look back to what the exchange rate was before GWB's rule before you say that.

Jay,

Please save us the effort on Google. Do you know what the exchange rate actually was at the end of Mr. Clinton's presidency?

Anyway, the exchange rate is nothing to laugh at. Not only is travel to Portugal more expensive for Americans, (this is why we had to move our offering of trips in Euros) but the cost of wine in general and Port specifically ... will be on the increase in the very near future as old stocks are depleted and the dollar remains weak or weaker. Of course it depends on what marketplace you reside in.
