Suggestions for October VT?

Post by Todd Pettinger »

As October is creeping up on us, does anyone have any ideas for the October Virtual Tasting? Fred, if you are back and around, how about you make the call this month seeing as how the inmates have had run of the asylum for a couple of months now?! ;)

It's getting to be a little cooler, and Dark when I leave the house as well as when I return. Winter is fast upon us. Seems like an older VP might be in order? 1966? 1963?

A great suggestion, my only problem would be one of availability in my area.

No 1966s available in any of the local stores.
Only one type of 1963 available:

1963 Fonseca Vintage Port (Douro, Portugal)
Port - Vintage $774.99 (750ML)

The Canadian dollar is essentially at par with it's US cousin, so when you're thinking "how much would that cost me down here in the US?" just think 1:1.

So, if we go with '63 or '66, I will, respectively have to take a pass on this one! ;)

And yes, I've done the wine-searcher queries and know just how criminal that price is. :hoppingmad:

I have the same problem as Todd, I can't afford any 66 in Canada.

since last month was about VP, how about tasting some unfiltred LBV this month?

I just don't want VT to be an elite or the theme that can fit just 2-3 members. So until more manifest an interest to open 60's or 70's port for a VT, I'll stick to what it is easier and more accessible for everyone.

October will be for Unfiltered or "traditionnal" LBV
