Being a hobby beekeeper myself AND a portlover i was very pleased to stumble upon a recipe with Port, Honey and mushrooms. Use this as a side-dish.
The recipe is dutch, so i use the metric system:
500 grams of mushrooms
100 ml port
8 tablespoons honey
5 cloves of garlic, crushed
pepper and salt
oil
some freshly chopped parsley for decoration
Clean the mushrooms, heat some oil in a frying pan and fry them on a medium fire for 7 minutes. Lower the fire, add pepper and salt and fry them again for 7 minutes. Add the port (i used 1994 Dow). Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes till all port is vaporated. Add the honey and the garlic and fry it again on a medium fire for about 3-5 minutes. Garnish it with the parsley.
