OFFICIAL DATES FOR 2008: Harvest Tour(s)

Post by Roy Hersh »

Mario and I have just finalized our 2008 Fortification Tour which is sold out. Additionally we are adding a 2nd Harvest Tour starting on the first Monday in October ... although plan to arrive on Sunday morning.

The Harvest Tour dates are going to be something "new" and we look forward to this exciting change!

2 spots have been spoken for so far, for the Fortification Tour.

Sorry, I forgot about the winner (Winesong Auction) of two spots on the Fortifcation Tour. That makes four spots that are now taken.

2008 Harvest Tour

Post by *podvodnic »

Is there anyone on this site signed up for the 2008 Harvest Tour? My fiance and I just joined the trip and I'd love to get to know some of the other travelers ahead of time.

Shannon,

There is nearly a full group at this point (1 spot left) but one person has asked for it, not yet fully committed. So we are going to have a few couples as well as some individuals on this tour, at least 5 of which have gone in the past. You and your husband will be made to feel very special during the trip as you are our first "honeymooners" and will be treated accordingly!

I am very excited as we'll get to try lots of 2007 cask samples in addition to many much older wines as well.

If the just finished 2008 Fortification Tour is any indication of how great the Harvest Tour is going to be ... you'll remember this for a wide variety of reasons, but of course ... joining us for your honeymoon is going to prove to be a great decision for you both!

I seem to be missing the dates for the EU/UK short tour. Is it still on? If so, when is the date (I'm sure I've seen it somewhere, but now I can't find it)?

Nikolaj, I just sent you an email with more information.

Shannon, there are six of our guests that are regular members here and a handful that never post.

We're looking forward to it! Especially now that we've received the itinerary. We're also spending a few days in Lisbon prior to the trip to get acclimated. If anyone has any suggestions for things to do or places to eat while we're there please let us know.

Andy - next time you're in the Bay Area be sure to let us know!

Shannon,

I gave Dan, Mario's email address. Mario lives not far from Lisbon and can recommend great things to do. You don't even need a car there. You can take public transportation to almost any of the areas not far away like Obidos, Sintra, Estoril, Palmela etc. Also, Joao Rico is a frequent poster here who lives in Lisbon if I am not mistaken. Email him too. He really knows the area inside and out. Make sure to get to the Alfama district and go to a Fado show. Ask Joao to recommend one to you or I can even do so, as I have a favorite place there. But Belem Tower, St. George's castle etc. and other local attractions are all great. Do make a day of Obidos, well worthwhile and accessible by public transportation. Plenty more. Ever seen a bull fight where they don't actually kill the bull?

I'll be attending, and went in 2006. One of your replys above intimates that you may be in the SF Bay area. I'm in Pacifica, so if you want to get together and have a little port and get excited about the trip, drop me a line!

I think Shannon messaged you already, but if not, we'd love try to find a time to meet up before the trip. It would be nice to already know some of the people on the trip when we meet up in Porto! Finding timemay be the hard part at this point... Lots of busy weekends trying to finalize all the details for the wedding. I bet that late August or VERY early September would be the times that work best for us. (Hopefully by that point there isn't much left to plan! Perfect excuse to relax with some nice port.)

Hopefully we can arrange something. If not, we'll just have to share drinks after the trip and reminisce. :-)
