September 2014 - Any Non-Filtered LBV at least 7 Years Old
We haven't done this in a while (February). Can I put propose we taste any Non-Filtered LBV at least 7 years old? (I would say 10 but I don't want to exclude anyone who cannot find same).

Great idea! I was planning on opening a bottle of something to do some "practicing" before heading off on the PHT, so this will just help me narrow down the choices.

Works for me. Not sure I'll get one open before I leave for the mother land, but I know I'll be having some LBV once there.

Okay so I'm late with the TN, but it was because it needed this much time to fully evolve!

I opened a 2000 Warres LBV last night. Good amount of semi-fine sediment. Floral aroma, garnet to reddish purple color. First taste was great--looking forward to enjoying over the weekend, too.

Ended up drinking a 2001 Smith Woodhouse, did not find the Warre :)
Dense and opaque ruby colour, upon opening, nose is reduced with dark and ripe berries, verry jammy. Now 2 days later, it is a different animal. Fruit is fresher, tannins that were bold and ripe are getting more square and grippy. Along with flavours of berries, cherries, licorice, lots of spices, the finish is definitively on the peppery side, a bit short but still great quality for LBV!
Drink now - 2025

1979 Warre's LBV Port
Still fresh and youthful for such an old LBV, a light touch of tannins still noticable, well balanced across the palate and moderately long finish. One of the better old LBV's I've had, but I'd recommend drinking up in the next few years as it won't get any better from here given it's age. 89 Points

2000 Warre's LBV
I love this LBV....I had six of these, have only one left. Seeing how this port is still very fruity and is beginning to age will have to not touch that last one for awhile. The following was posted as a TN:
Dark purple with a claret rim. Nose of dark berry with slight floral note. Full body fruit with grape, blackberry and cassiss, yet seems to be mellowing from prior bottles of this. Moderate finish for first few days; then became more clipped whcih surprised me. Nice harmony of flavors--I drank this over 5 days and it held up very well. This could easily age another 10; still so dark and brooding. 92 Points
