How shocking, literally, is our crazy, bloodstained culture. Let us hope that Roy and friends/family are safe. And despite an angry President Obama, prayers are the most important thing we have to do, and some serious introspection about who we are and how we respond to such stresses, and how we live a connected, transformed, transforming life in such chaos.

Always a tragedy when someone thinks it's ok to take a life because they are different than themselves.

We pray for humility as we deal with the condition of our beloved but hurting country. It'll do no one any good for us to blame 'the other guy', whomever might that be, in these tragedies. As a matter of fact, I think the less righteous indignation and the more searching of conscience we can do the better off we are. The sign of maturity is when people get together in tragedy, not those who seem to be thrown apart when others are hurting. We all are at fault here, and it's everyone's country! Sorry if this seems preachy, but my conscience is the only one I'm capable of examining. Thanks so much for your reply, Andy.
The more I see of these things, the more I'm reminded of something I'm all too familiar with: the disfunctional, hurting family, whose anger is directed as much inward as outward. Why are those folks in the mirror so ignorant? Isn't this just like my family? Just like yours?
